Yevhen Pluzhnyk
Yevhen Pluzhnyk (1898–1936) was a Ukrainian poet, playwright, and translator, a representative of the “Executed Renaissance.” His literary career developed during the cultural revival of the 1920s but was tragically interrupted by Stalinist repression.
Pluzhnyk’s poetry is characterized by intellectual depth, inner драмatic structure, and emotional restraint. He sensitively explored the psychological states of individuals confronting historical upheaval and existential crisis.
Arrested in 1934, he was sentenced to imprisonment and died in a labor camp on the Solovki Islands. Today, Pluzhnyk is regarded as one of the most significant modernist voices in 20th-century Ukrainian literature.
