The Mayor Sits on Death is a novella by Andrii Protsailo, a satirical and grotesque story about power, corruption, and the absurdity of provincial politics in Ukraine.

The Mayor Sits on Death is a work in which Protsailo creates a grotesque portrait of a provincial mayor embodying all the vices and absurdity of local government. Death transforms from a metaphor into the hero's literal companion.

The novella is written in the tradition of Ukrainian satire going back to Gogol and Kvitka-Osnovianenko, but with a contemporary focus on post-Soviet reality.
