Walks with Dogs — Gianfranco Calligarich

The plot of *A Walk with Dogs* is not a fast-paced story, but rather a series of everyday episodes revolving around the main character

Main Character: A writer and screenwriter going through a creative and personal crisis. He feels like an outsider in modern Rome, which is changing too quickly.

Plot: The protagonist agrees to walk the dogs of his wealthy acquaintances. This becomes his main occupation and his way of interacting with the world.

Walks as a ritual: Each walk turns into a journey through the streets of Rome, where the protagonist encounters eccentrics, former lovers, failed intellectuals, and random passersby.

Conflict: An internal rift between his wealthy past (the world of cinema, success, and bohemian life) and his present “invisibility.” He observes life from the sidelines, making no attempt to intervene.

Ending: The plot does not have a classic resolution. It is an open-ended story about accepting one’s loneliness and finding peace in small things—steps on the cobblestones, the light of streetlamps, and the silent support of dogs.
