Petersburg Tales is the conventional name for a cycle of works by Mykola Hohol set in St. Petersburg. Five stories were written in the 1830s–1840s.

Nevsky Prospect paints the deceptive glamour of the capital. The Nose is an absurdist masterpiece. The Portrait explores the nature of art. The Overcoat is a tragedy of the "little man," from which, as Dostoevsky said, "we all came out." Diary of a Madman is a descent into insanity.

The cycle became foundational for urban prose and world literature of the absurd.
