Dune — Frank Herbert

Dune is a science fiction novel by American writer Frank Herbert, first published in 1965. The story takes place in a distant future where powerful noble houses struggle for control of the desert planet Arrakis.

Arrakis, also known as Dune, is the only source of the most valuable substance in the universe — the spice melange, which enables interstellar travel and enhances human abilities. When House Atreides is given control of the planet, its heir Paul becomes involved in a complex web of political intrigue and conflict.

The novel combines an epic space saga with themes of power, ecology, religion, and human destiny. Dune is widely regarded as one of the most influential works of science fiction.
