Fight Club was published in 1996 and became one of the defining texts of its generation. An unnamed office worker suffering from insomnia meets the charismatic Tyler Durden and founds an underground fight club that grows into the terrorist "Project Mayhem."

The novel was adapted into a film by David Fincher in 1999, starring Brad Pitt and Edward Norton. The book explores a crisis of masculinity, consumer society, violence as a form of self-discovery, and the unreliable narrator.
