The Deluge — Henryk Sienkiewicz

The Deluge (1886) chronicles the "Swedish Deluge" — Sweden's invasion of the Commonwealth (1655–1660). Andrzej Kmicic is one of Polish literature's most vivid heroes, a rebel who becomes a defender of his homeland.

The Deluge is the central and largest novel of the trilogy. Sienkiewicz created a grand panorama of the era, contributing to his Nobel Prize in Literature (1905).
