Pygmalion is one of the most famous plays in world theater. Shaw reimagines the myth of Pygmalion: Higgins "sculpts" Eliza, but she proves not to be obedient material but a living person with her own will.

The play became the basis for the musical "My Fair Lady" and numerous adaptations. Shaw wittily critiques class prejudice and the nature of power.
