A Christmas Carol — Charles Dickens

This is the story of Ebenezer Scrooge, an incredibly stingy and cruel millionaire. He dislikes people, doesn’t celebrate Christmas, and cares only about his own profits. However, on the night before Christmas, spirits appear to him and change his life forever.

pcs

Past: Scrooge sees himself as a child and a young man, recalling the days when he was still capable of feeling joy and love, before greed blinded him.

Present: He sees how other people celebrate Christmas—especially those living in poverty (the family of his employee, Cratchit)—who are genuinely happy and love one another.

Future: The most terrifying journey, where the hero sees his own death—lonely, forgotten by all, evoking nothing in anyone but indifference or relief.
