Cold Ravine — Yurii Horlis-Horskyi

Cold Ravine is a memoir-documentary novel by Yurii Horlis-Horskyi about the insurgent movement in Kholodny Yar — a center of Ukrainian resistance against the Bolsheviks.

pcs

Cold Ravine tells of the Kholodny Yar Republic — a unique insurgent formation in central Ukraine (1919–1922) that resisted Bolshevik occupation. Horlis-Horskyi, a participant in the events, created a document-testimony.

The book was banned in the USSR and long available only in the diaspora. After Ukrainian independence, Cold Ravine became one of the most widely read works about the struggle for Ukrainian statehood.
