Library Support from Mykhailo Sheytelman

After the de-occupation, our library stood like a wounded heart of the community — quiet, devastated, yet alive. Every shelf remembered children’s laughter, every book — the touch of hands that believed in the future. And just when it seemed that restoring everything would be too difficult, something happened that can only be called a miracle.

On an ordinary train, a truly unexpected meeting took place. We met Vira and Ihor — people with big hearts, to whom someone simply told the story of our library, our losses, and our hope. Vira smiled and said words we still remember: “You won’t just have a library — you’ll have a great one.” Back then, it sounded like a dream… but she believed in us before we believed in ourselves.

It was Vira who told Mikhail Sheitelman about us. And from that moment on, thousands learned about our small library.

Mikhail went live and shared the story of our unbreakable library — a story not about walls, but about people who did not give up. He asked for support… and something incredible happened.

At first — one package. Then another. And then — a flow that could not be stopped. Books, board games, puzzles, toys — all of it came to us from different parts of Ukraine and from abroad. Each box was filled not only with things — but with warmth, care, and faith.

We opened them with tears in our eyes. Because in each one there was someone’s “stay strong,” “you are not alone,” “we are with you.”

Later, there was another stream — a fundraiser for an interactive board, so that the library could become a modern space for our community. And again — support, donations, hundreds of kind words.

But the most valuable thing was live communication. Later, together with our users, we had the opportunity to speak online with Mr. Mikhail. It was a very warm and sincere meeting. We were able to personally thank him for everything he had done for us.

As a sign of our gratitude, we sent him a small piece of our library — a T-shirt and a mug with our logo, an angel as a symbol of protection, and our special guardian cat. Because we wanted our boundless gratitude to reach him along with these gifts.

Today, our library is no longer just a place with books. It is a place of strength. A place where life is reborn. Where children laugh again. Where everyone knows: even after the darkest times, light always comes.

And we know for sure — this became possible thanks to people.

Thank you for your faith. For your support. For a heart that beats together with ours.
