A Woman in the Dark. The Green Wedge is a documentary book by Maksym Butchenko devoted to a little-known chapter of Ukrainian history — the mass resettlement of Ukrainians to the Far East in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Zeleny Klyn (the Green Wedge) was the name given to the territory of compact Ukrainian settlement in the Primorye and Amur regions.

The author reconstructs the fates of people who found themselves thousands of kilometers from home, through archival documents, memoirs and personal journeys to the sites of former Ukrainian settlements. The book explores questions of identity, memory and lost communities, combining historical investigation with literary narrative.
