The Odyssey of Ovid — Anatolii Roichenko
The Odyssey of Ovid is a historical novel by Anatolii Roichenko (Maiak, 2008) about the fate of Roman poet Publius Ovidius Naso and his connection to the Black Sea region.
The Odyssey of Ovid is a sweeping historical novel tracing the famous Roman poet's journey from glory in Rome to exile in the distant lands of the Black Sea region. Roichenko was the first in Ukrainian literature to artistically explore the connection between the ancient poet and the territory of present-day Odesa Oblast.
The book combines historical authenticity with compelling narrative. The novel was the result of the author's years of local history research and deep study of the region's ancient heritage.
